Where agents shine

Tasks that are repetitive, multi-step and easy to check: sorting inboxes, updating sheets, drafting routine replies.

Coins and financial documents

Where they don’t

One-off judgement calls, or tasks where a mistake is costly and hard to undo, such as sending a payment.

A quick test

Ask three questions about any task:

  1. Do I do it often, in roughly the same steps?
  2. Can the steps be done with tools the agent can reach?
  3. Can I check the result quickly?

A spreadsheet being reviewed

Start small

Begin with an agent that drafts and a human who approves.

Draft, then approve

A safe first setup keeps you in the loop:

Agent → drafts the weekly report
You → review and approve
Agent → sends it to the team

Then let it act

Once the drafts are reliably right, let the agent act on its own for the low-risk cases. Keep approval for the rest.
